I think I'm going to go with Reprisal's since we have to vote, but I'm going to have to say I think all three are great yet different and would proud to display any one of the three on my desktop (I remember mercapto saying he made a wallpaper version, so I guess I'll go with that)...  Anyways, I wanna know what the secret in Axl's .swf version is.

All insanely good pieces, keep in mind that because of the quality of the pieces, i will be bitching about the tiniest little things...

Axl Pros
  • Very Accurate
  • Extremly little .jpg artifact-iness
Axl Cons
  • Occasional pixelated/blurry lining
  • Not quite accurate extreme detail
  • Seems to be cropped a bit
Mercapto Pros
  • Detailed beyond belief
  • Very sharp/clear *points to the buildings on the right*
  • Good use of gradients for depth
  • Very Accurate
Mercapto Cons
  • Slight (but present) Jpg artifacts
  • Not enough to complain about
Reprisal Pros
  • Unique
  • Accurate, but not as much as the other two
  • Obviously, the 'gradiented' shadowing
  • Added flames on the flying ship (I liked that   :) )
  • Very good 3d-ish effects
Reprisal Cons
  • Worst of the three .jpg artifact-wise
  • The blurred vehicles, a little over-done
  • Line variation would have been nice (Eg. the footpath lines, too thick)

As for my vote... i'm fucked if i know... i'll vote later, perhaps.

heh, yeah.  this scan took so long to do that by the end i was getting a bit sick of working on it so the cars I just brushed in by hand with the mouse and blurred the bejezzes out of them.  i didn't really like the way the tubes came out either but, *shrugs*.  also, what was the deal with that building in the lower right-ish?  it's like in the middle of the street! (i'm assuming it was put there intentionally to avoid having a big negetive space there...or not?)  bah. anyway....

great job Axl and Mercapto, and to all those who backed out i stick out my tounge at thee =P  looking forward to doing another one (hopefully we got all the kinks worked out of the system and it'll go a bit smoother this time.....hopefully...maybe... .=/)

Great job everyone.  On a scan that would drive me bonkers trying to redo.  It truly is a testament to your patience and mouse handling proficency.

Welp, for me it's a toss up between Mercapto and Reprisal.

Mercapto's is true to the original style of Futurama art, whereas Reprisal has taken more unique liberties with the scan, and did very well IMHO.  I like the transparency of the tubes in Reprisals scan.  I also like the detail of the building roofs and the shadowing looks very professional, but it looks somewhat clinical and sterile.  I do not like the blurred vehicles.

I can't find any fault with Mercapto's and since it better reflects the original.  I'll go with Merc.

All three are absolutely mine boggling! Well done to all of you, those are all increadibly cloolsome scans, and you've all done justice to one of my fave scenes from Futurama! Mercapto gets my vote though, because he's the only person to get that tall blue Cylinder building exactly right

I've come to a conclusion, and the detail in Merc's is just too much to turn down, those buildings on the right... insane
So Merc gets the all important, just-as-important-as-everyone-else vote from me

well, since Reprisal didn't take my offer- "i vote for whoever gives me candy first-" I'll just have to go with Merc's, since it is probably the most detailed. But the effects on Reprisal's are really cool. Hey, all three are great.

That was really hard to choose considering the 3 people who took part. I choose the one that looks more effective.  ;)

I'll go with Reprisal because of the coloring on the various things, especially the transport tubes.

Closely followed by Mercapto for the precision on everything. Also he got that blue/grey cylinder-shaped exactly right.

Axl's is also mighty impressive but just not as impressive as Reprisal and Mercaptos IMO.

Keep in mind I feel like snuggling you all.

I just noticed, but that circle building at the upper left with the little arm thingies sticking out all around, has resemblance to the bank in A Fishful of Dollars....

You know, I love Mercapto's scan so much, I've set it as my desktop. Although unfortunately I've had to blow it up, and there's a slight loss of quality. Is there any bigger version of you scan?  :)

My opinion: Axl's scan is very good, especially since he finished his in a day or two. Reprisal's scan is awesome with the 3D stuff, but it felt like it wasn't a believable scan (like the cyan building in the upper right). Mercapto made the one scan I would be proud to have as my wallpaper.

Go Mercapto *runs Anagram Genius* Creamtop!

I think:
Axl uses Flash
Creamtop uses Adobe Photoshop 6.0 or above.
And I don't even know who Reprisal is.

Not facts.

i use Photoshop 5.0, the "3d" stuff is just shading with the burn and dodge tools i just got a wacom tablet on friday which is hella-fun to use but not terribly usefull for scanning (unless you're talented enough to just freehand stuff (which i'm definate not)).  It is, however, usefull for other things.

No, this looks like a Picasso.

EDIT: I was hoping it'd be more evident, but this is in fact a Picasso'ed version of the MS Paint pic. But it looks like something out of Zelda: Windwaker.

Hahaha, very nice, i like that there's apparently no maximum speed, it's like astroids on the atari. Now if only the other ship was controllable and both of them shot had Slurm can launchers......
