Yuh-huh. Problem is he can't force her to see that. Morally or otherwise. I think by Devil's Hands she's getting the idea, and he's never tried to rush her into it either. He's made some odd comments at times where I've thought "ugh, that's not helping your situation buddy-o" but usually he's just joking around. I think...

For some reason my brain said to me "then perhaps we should get him one of those machines Herb Powell made in The Simpsons that translates babies' language".
Now I feel mean.  :(

Isn't that a possible hypothetical scenario for part of the movie?--that is, with Leela's wedding, and someone mentioned once Fry seemingly glad to be back in the past, when he travels through time. Perhaps, if he is glad, it's because he did get a bit fed up and came to the realization that it was never going to happen? I agree that it wouldn't be like him to give up, but maybe there is a point in the movie where he feels he's reached a dead end.

As bad as unrequited love is, do you know what might be worse? - not expressing
your love for someone; feeling some tremendous liking or admiration for someone and not being able to tell them. That's why Fry at least does keep telling Leela that he loves her, even if she never says it back; he still feels that it's better for him at least to express himself.

His chasing her is also a testament to the earnestness of his personality and the conviction that he must have that he may eventually get her. That is why it probably would be out of character for him to give up; however, it's easy to see that it must, as mentioned, sometimes get discouraging.

I think as long as Leela can make up her mind and stick to it, ie. whether she wants to be with Fry or not, then he shouldn't get too upset by it. The fact that she does keep visibly warming to the thought of it is what keeps him going.
The more she does it, the more hope he gets, so if she lets it go further only to let those fears back into her head and withdraw, Fry would be devastated. You don't buy a kid an ice cream just to eat it yourself. Although it would be kind of funny..

Aww, Jurassic Bark is on telly..."He'd come after me". Now that's love.  :)

As far as the movie thing goes they went to deep into it with "Devil's Hands" to just backtrack in their usual fashion. If they pull that in the movies that would really destroy the "last" episode. Plus many people here would probably go and form an angry mob. Well that could be interesting really........I wonder. (goes to sharpen pitchfork)

You mean nobody's responding to your post? This was just a bad time.  :p

Random, psuedo-shippy question. What's your favorite discussion we've had so far? I liked that one about Fry hurting Zapp... XD I'm not that deep or long-winded. That's why I never contribute to these discussions, I think I'll look stupid.

"Feeling stupid? I know I am!"
I think I look stupid all the time. Every time I say or do something I know either at that same moment, a moment later, a couple of days later or a few years down the track; I'll look back and think "wow. You're and idiot." You can bet that I'm thinking it right now about this post. But it's all good. The more you contribute, the more you can learn. That's why I didn't learn much in school...didn't want to be part of discussions, tried to do everything on my own.  :p I know what you mean though, sometimes it is easier to sit back and watch. But then, those people who always ask seemingly random questions during movies are just trying to gain meaning in a different way to those who just sit and watch it.

I couldn't pick a favourite. Often, when it starts getting so far it stops making sense, I enjoy it. And the fact that a lot of the aspects of shipdom get discussed more than once, and sometimes somebody manages to pick out something new from it. It's amusing and interesting at the same time.

Looking forward to the movie(s) now a lot more than before. There will be new things to pick at...

I don't think you have to be deep or long-winded to contribute, you just have to have something valid to say! Or not so valid....

I know when I first discovered PEEL back in March, the shipper threads were always some of my favorites to look in, because there would almost always be something interesting going on. I used to like it when coldangel and Xanfor would be going at each other...

Oh, another highlight for me was when JustNibblin' once put up a link to Tongue Luck's satire, which then in turn led me to JBERGES...it was reading Tongue Luck and JBERGES that really made me want to  join PEEL.

Somethings occured to me. If Leela and Fry get together and marry, then all the shippers who want Fry and Leela to marry will no longer have a purpose in life.

It'll lead to mass suicides, I tell you.

I reckon Zapp is a closet queen, maybe there's potential for a Zapp / Scruffy shippy thread or maybe Zapp / Morbo, that would be funny.

Eh, maybe he's bisexual (prods WitHW), but he talks about hooking up with women so often, and with such candor, that I can't imagine him not actually being sexually attracted to them.

I don't even think Zapp's human.

I'm actually really serious when I mean this. For some reason, I truly believe that his origin is of another planet that is inhabited by creatures that look miraculously like humans, or he's just a severe mutant of a humanoid race.

He could be a gorilla mutant, too.

Bender: Now, I don't like you and you don't like me.

Bender: You do? Look, are you going to help or not?

Leela: I don't know why I should. I mean after what he--

Bender: Wait, wait, wait, wait. [He crosses his legs and taps his chin.] What is it you like best about me?

1BDI, that may be a cover up for Zapp's homosexuality. The DOOP probably also has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Dunno if you watch Scrubs, but remember when The Todd acts gay?  :)

I don't think Zapp is gay. In WITH-W, he was only attracted to what he thought was a man because it was actually a woman in disguise.

Yeah, I agree with that.

I believe that Fry feels he would be able to treat her much better than any of Leela's previous dates did, since he actually loves her, cares about her, and has a lot of respect for her.

Though, there is one line from Leela, from "Time Keeps on Slippin'" that I don't quite understand.

She goes on about something for a while (which I can't remember at the moment), and then ends their discussion by saying to Fry, "You're a man, I'm a woman, we're just too different".  She then leaves the room after that line.

Was Leela forgetting that, at the very least, she had at least some things in common with Fry?  Or was that simply, her way of telling him that she isn't interested in him, in a romantic sort of way?
