Originally posted by Sine Wave: I still can't see Fry being hurt enough to leave her, I still think he'd stay her friend no matter how torn up he was on the inside. Isn't that a possible hypothetical scenario for part of the movie?--that is, with Leela's wedding, and someone mentioned once Fry seemingly glad to be back in the past, when he travels through time. Perhaps, if he is glad, it's because he did get a bit fed up and came to the realization that it was never going to happen? I agree that it wouldn't be like him to give up, but maybe there is a point in the movie where he feels he's reached a dead end. As bad as unrequited love is, do you know what might be worse? - not expressingyour love for someone; feeling some tremendous liking or admiration for someone and not being able to tell them. That's why Fry at least does keep telling Leela that he loves her, even if she never says it back; he still feels that it's better for him at least to express himself. Originally posted by Sine Wave: In a way, his chasing her is him continuing her encouragement to his fullest capability, possibly the only thing he's ever done to his fullest capability. His chasing her is also a testament to the earnestness of his personality and the conviction that he must have that he may eventually get her. That is why it probably would be out of character for him to give up; however, it's easy to see that it must, as mentioned, sometimes get discouraging.

As far as the movie thing goes they went to deep into it with "Devil's Hands" to just backtrack in their usual fashion. If they pull that in the movies that would really destroy the "last" episode. Plus many people here would probably go and form an angry mob. Well that could be interesting really........I wonder. (goes to sharpen pitchfork)

What's your favorite discussion we've had so far? I liked that one about Fry hurting Zapp... XD I'm not that deep or long-winded. That's why I never contribute to these discussions, I think I'll look stupid.

"Feeling stupid? I know I am!" I think I look stupid all the time. Every time I say or do something I know either at that same moment, a moment later, a couple of days later or a few years down the track; I'll look back and think "wow. You're and idiot." You can bet that I'm thinking it right now about this post. But it's all good. The more you contribute, the more you can learn. That's why I didn't learn much in school...didn't want to be part of discussions, tried to do everything on my own. I know what you mean though, sometimes it is easier to sit back and watch. But then, those people who always ask seemingly random questions during movies are just trying to gain meaning in a different way to those who just sit and watch it. I couldn't pick a favourite. Often, when it starts getting so far it stops making sense, I enjoy it. And the fact that a lot of the aspects of shipdom get discussed more than once, and sometimes somebody manages to pick out something new from it. It's amusing and interesting at the same time. Looking forward to the movie(s) now a lot more than before. There will be new things to pick at...

I don't think you have to be deep or long-winded to contribute, you just have to have something valid to say! Or not so valid.... What's your favorite discussion we've had so far? I know when I first discovered PEEL back in March, the shipper threads were always some of my favorites to look in, because there would almost always be something interesting going on. I used to like it when coldangel and Xanfor would be going at each other... Oh, another highlight for me was when JustNibblin' once put up a link to Tongue Luck's satire, which then in turn led me to JBERGES...it was reading Tongue Luck and JBERGES that really made me want to join PEEL.

What do we want? Shippyness! When do we want it? Shippyness!
Now I just sit back and wait for the crowd to break into a riot.

Bwahaha, great pic Xan. That looks naughty.
Bender: Now, I don't like you and you don't like me.
Leela: I like you.
Bender: You do? Look, are you going to help or not?
Leela: I don't know why I should. I mean after what he--
Bender: Wait, wait, wait, wait. [He crosses his legs and taps his chin.] What is it you like best about me?
Amy: Is she coming?
Bender: I'm not sure. But I do know that she likes my in-your-face attitude.

Originally posted by Sine Wave: Well, that could be part of what drives him to try and get her. Maybe he sees they'd make a good couple, or he feels like he could treat her a lot better than anyone she's been with before. Yeah, I agree with that. I believe that Fry feels he would be able to treat her much better than any of Leela's previous dates did, since he actually loves her, cares about her, and has a lot of respect for her. Though, there is one line from Leela, from "Time Keeps on Slippin'" that I don't quite understand. She goes on about something for a while (which I can't remember at the moment), and then ends their discussion by saying to Fry, "You're a man, I'm a woman, we're just too different". She then leaves the room after that line. Was Leela forgetting that, at the very least, she had at least some things in common with Fry? Or was that simply, her way of telling him that she isn't interested in him, in a romantic sort of way?

Fry/Bender. Bender likes Fry a bit too much. "Now I'm all you got!"
