Why is all the shippines found between Fry and Leela?  There's other shippiness in futurama.  Here are some alternative relationships.

In The 'Ship's case, it is necessary to compare it's fictional relationship to others of it's own type, aka, other fictional relationships. It is possible to merely examine other relationships within 'Futurama', but this idea has numerous flaws. For one, no other relationship is as involved; two, they were all written by the same writers, thusly, any unrealistic or misleading flaws will be duplicated in them as well. It's like a gene pool. If there's no variety, you get inherited lunacy.

   So the Fry and Leela 'Ship must be compared to other fictional relationships, while avoiding those which match the flow to closely. Keep in mind though, if you're going to be comparing Thing One to Thing Two in order to gleam morsels of insight into Thing One (which is what university campuses are supposed to be for), you must have Thing Two analyzed to as much detail as Thing One. You can't rub diamond against graphite and expect the diamond to chip. Therefore, a most productive activity for this thread to engage in would be to purposefully analyze other fictional relationships one at a time, for a minimum of, say, four to five pages each. Then, we compare similarities, insights, and other emotional universalities that we find appear to span time, death, space, and reality. And that may be exactly what we need to understand what it is we seek. And at least we'll be more worldly.

The picture by Azurenna, if none of you lot are ever going to get it, is, in my opinion, shippy because Fry is protecting Leela from the big attacking fish thingy. He might not be, but that's how I view the picture.

To be honest, I've always enjoyed any pics that go outside the origional animation and makes it looks more realistic.  Abit more so than its origional, like the one Fryandlemon posted. Like the work FemJesse made, for example

But that was before he wised up and realized the dangers of drug abuse, an enlightenment that probably coincided with the discovery his friend Richie's drug useage (and the resale of his mom's VCR).

(Seriously, my theory is he probably tried it once upon a time, did something incredibly stupid, even for him, and decided it would be better for all invovled if he stayed away from the stuff entirely.)

Less than Heroes, but more than buddies?
If you consider the dialogue between Fry and Leela in LTH, they seem to be good buddies who get along well with each other, but nothing more. However I did notice that most buddies don't sit together on the "doctor's" exam table, or get quite so touchy.  I don't think Fry was making any advances, but it seemed unusual how intimate they are acting in these scenes.  Either they've totally fogotten about the notion of sexual harrassment in the 31st century or they're just totally comfortable with each other.  Either way it's nice.

I really like that about Ron Weiner's episodes: he doesn't put a whole lot of emphasis on a (potential) romantic relationship, but he still insinuates that the two are really good friends, which of course gives the shippers hope that they may choose to take that relationship a few steps further.  Leela in particular seems really comfortable around Fry in his episodes, and less concerned about his impulsiveness/stupidity.

Ahh, the Ship returns. Pleasure. Peace, and organization....all back into line and place. Friends do occasionally hover over their bud's shoulder and sometimes put their hand there for balancing reasons, but between Fry and Leela, it seems such a romantic gesture. If you notice the last screenshot posted by 1BDI, Leela looks to be kindly smiling to Fry, who's to busy to notice because he's looking at the label on the miracle cream.

I saw this 'because list' on http://www.ronandhermione.net/The_Because_List  and couldn't resist making my own for Fry/Leela.  Plus it give us shippers something to do until the new episodes come out.


Reasons Fry and Leela belong together:

1. Because he needs someone with sense

2. Because he never left her side for two whole weeks.

3. Because together, they're lonely together

4. Because he has a thing for a cyclops he works with

5. Because he loves her

6. Because she's better than normal, she's abnormal

7. Because she leaves him breathless

8. Because she doesn't care if he's not the most important person in the universe

9. Because the second coin flip was heads

10. Because it got through

11. Because she wanted to know how it ends

To go along with what Fryandlemon said, I sum it up into one meaning: Because he loves her in the purest sense. Both of them came from nothing, never expected to find each other, and now they have each other. I refuse to see it in any other way other than they belong together, and are finally together. To me, that stands out far more than anything else, and Im content with that
