Is Hermes supposed to be the only normal one of the bunch?  Think about it.  He's the only character who's married, has a kid, and has made something of himself, and the most successful.

All the other characters have their flaws, but it seems like Hermes is the only sane one of the bunch.  Him and maybe Scruffy, too.   I've always liked Hermes's character.
Well, In every fiction show, there's got to be a 'straight man', or a completely normal character, who's normality is used to enhance how unusual the event taking place in the episode is.
In the earlier seasons, say season 1 and some of 2, Fry was the straight man, but over time, he became more and more quirky, which sort of shifted the straight man duty to Hermes. I'm not sure if that's how it actually happened, but that's how it seems.

I wouldn't say Hermes is the straight man. Hermes is not relatable like Fry is (he is a secondary character) and he's not exactly normal as he's a bureacrat, keeping up the business and represent also "exotic culture". However, he does represent traditional, "normal" man, who is career and family oriented.

Fry has probably blended in along other characters and he's not so much on the center anymore, he's presented more as a pair with Bender or Leela. I think show, since first cancellation, has been built up with the knowing of storylines from original run and developed with less of the need for straight man.

I wouldn't say Hermes is any more or less normal than Amy.

I'd say their both around the same level of normalness.  :p

I'd say Randy is the Straight Man of the show.

Judging by the hints he has given and his personality, I'm fairly certain Randy is the farthest thing from the straight man of the show.

It is quite hard to tell when he's joking, considering the terrible wrap hes been getting, I'm sure we'll lighten up to him, as well as get used to some of his dry humor.  ;)

If they stop posting so much borderline spam, I'd like them.

The 1 in 10 posts where they actually have something to say aren't bad.

Credit to be given where due - the hurt and heal tournament was an excellent idea on Stum's part (albeit one that should've had some more explanation as to how it works at the beginning). I just wish he/she would read the damn rules and stop treating this forum like a chat room.

Thought I'd ask this:  What does the term 'second run' mean?

What does the term 'second run' mean?
Basically second run of episodes, aired on CC "continuously" (seasons 6 and 7) as opposed to original/first run on FOX.

I was looking at the episode review threads, and noticed that two of the review threads are missing the poll numbers: "Fun on a Bun" and "Zapp Dingbat". Fortunately I have the probable numbers on a spreadsheet. There might have been one or two more votes than what I have, but probably not -- most of the episode review polls had exactly the same numbers as what I had already recorded a month ago.

The numbers on my spreadsheet:

Fun on a Bun

1 - 2
2 - 0
3 - 0
4 - 0
5 - 0
6 - 1
7 - 8
8 - 11
9 - 24
10 - 45

Zapp Dingbat

1 - 3
2 - 1
3 - 1
4 - 0
5 - 6
6 - 1
7 - 14
8 - 17
9 - 31
10 - 13

I don't know if anybody has the authority to recreate the polls with these numbers.

Want to know what would have been funny for Futurama to do?  At the end of some episodes where Fry can mess up, Bender can get mad at him and chase him down the street like in those Misterjaw cartoons.

Fry:  Guess I really boned you all this time, eh?

Bender:  Grrrrrr...

Fry:  C'mon, Bender!  Please!  No big deal!  Uh ho!  (runs away)

Bender:  Come back here, Fry!

Fry:  NNNNOOO!!!

Bender:  If I ever catch you I'm throwing into the gas tank of Zapp Branigan's DOOP Ship!

If you're suggesting that I'm vilace, SolidSnake, then you'd better reconsider that. There's no way in hell that I would ever act that stupid. You seem to be convinced that I am someone's fake account, which I most definitely am not.

There are a couple of things wrong with your statement.

1. It's viclace

2. I never accused you of being viclace. Since you're acting so jumpy now, I think I should accuse you. But hey, I have better things to do then to accuse somebody of making a terribly failed troll account.

There is something Joe Pesci about Clamps!  He's my all time favorite character which is why he's on my avatar.

I know how we can bring Futurama back, change the name of the show to "Duck Dynasty!"  LOL!

That seemed to be the big surprise hit of the summer.  All those singing/reality shows becoming more popular at Futurama's expense.

Don't mean to drag back OT, but it's stereotypical to say everyone hates it. I liked it. Actually it's one of my favorites of the season.

The Holiday Spectacular does. As does Overclockwise.
