I have kind of a bad feeling for the next Season. Put down your Pitch Forks and let me explain why.

When I first watched the preview, I shat my pants! I thought it looked awesome! But now looking back at it, it just looks disappointing. Where's the creativity that made me love the show? All I see is mostly pop-culture crap. Don't get me wrong, I liked the last half season alot. But this, I don't know. I'm just worried that they may not be able to pull this off, or better yet have alot less of what we saw in the preview during the episodes. Last half season had some mediocre plot lines, and the jokes/gags kind of made that up. But I think this season has some stronger ones, and I personally think the jokes/gags just might ruin it for me. I may be wrong though, maybe Futurama will catch me by surprise. Just as it did with 6A. I did like some clips though, like the "Open your mouth and say AAUUGHH!".

I don't see any pop culture references in the preview...?

Well, none that don't blend into the (speculated/partially summarized) plots. The ET references are obvious, so was the reference to The Thing. Unlike references in "The Thief of Baghead", where there were references to celebrities that the episode could've done without. Those references weren't clever, but the ones I've seen for the upcoming season appear to be pretty damn clever to me.

Agreed.
Why was Paris Hilton a robot last half season???
Why not... Paris Hill Ton... as a dumb waiter type robot in a fancy hotel.

Get it, b/c she's dumb and is an hotel heiress and dumb waiters are basically elevators.

It's just... so many missed jokes.
And so obvious.

The ones in TTOBH weren't clever; you're right about that. But they were also almost entirely background jokes so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Tweet from Eric Rogers, may or may not be about Futurama:

"Just learned the most awesome news but I'm sworn to secrecy! Does that make me a d-bag tease? Or just a d-bag? Don't care, it's exciting!"

Someone called @LateFines tweeted him saying:

"@EricRogersLA It's times like these that it's a good thing I like you. #ROOOOOOOOGEEEERRRRRRRSSSSSSS"

Eric responded with:

"@LateFines It's worth waiting for! Trust me!"

I looked at @LateFines' account, and he's followed by Eric and Maurice LaMarche, so I assume he's a Futurama fan, and I guess that means we have a sly hint...?

What is so secret about Futurama renewal :hmpf:? Seems like all this "renewal tenseness 2013" is no more than artificial "booster" for increasing DVD sales: "Go buy DVDs/merchandise or Futurama will die"-esque :laff:.

I bet we're getting 26 more episodes to form the 8th production season.
Set to air 2014 and 2015.

Or.. the Futurama movie!!!

Or..... Eric got his own show.

On Futurama-Madhouse ( http://www.futurama-madhouse.net/ ), the news featured the following text:

Quote
When I started here at the Madhouse, Futurama was on “hiatus”, that twilight limbo that lies somewhere between canceled and not canceled. And what joy it was when the undead arose - to present the news of movies and of new episodes. So now we sit, awaiting the uncertainty of renewal as the last season, so far as we know, prepares to unveil it's secrets in a few short months. But today, an e-mail purporting to be from a highly placed source who ought to know (and whose name you would certainly recognize) arrived here at the Madhouse boiler room and it says “... the last 13 episodes coming in the summer are truly the last episodes. Same old story from season 4........ Not canceled but not ordering another season, right now.”. So that's not good news. That's not good news at all. But we Futurama fans are a hardy breed. We don't loose faith easily. Those last two words give us hope, and if hope was slim in 2003 well, it's not as slim now as it was then. Rumor has it there will be a Futurama panel at this summer's ComicCon, so fingers crossed.

If that's true, that's pretty depressing, but I guess there still is that slim hope of renewal.

I think I'll just choose not to believe it for now until we hear something official.

If it turns out we won't be getting another season after this summer, is it gonna be just like the cancellation of the original run, where they simply didn't renew, and never formally said it was cancelled? Like Comedy Central just sweeping Futurama under the rug, and forgetting it even existed, so to speak?

!iMmOrTaL! wrote it on Futurama-Madhouse:
"I wonder if Matt and David have ever considered doing a Kickstarter campaign for Futurama? You know, just in case Fox decide not to renew it."

It would be a great idea. I bet they could collect enough money to make a new season.
