Relax! I didn't know a thread couldn't make more than 20 pages.
To be on topic, I have highs potentials for that episode where the professor find his parents in the Near Death Star.

Actually guys, we already have a Speculation thread for that Keep this to talk not suited for other threads, or for like discussion of old vs. new futurama, etc etc... I fear I may have gone off a lil in the news thread over my discussion of time constraints on recent reairing of episodes so I will mention it here. I don't like how they had to mess with an episode's integrity just to put in more commercials. Or even commercial act breaks with Bender saying "stay tuned for more Futurama!"

I never meant this to be the 'Season 7' thread, I just meant for it to be a fun title or whatever... And thanks spira.

I'm asking for the removal of Hermes's character, he's just boring and useless. I hope he will be killed in the next season. Then his son could leave and take Cubert with him. Danny, you never think of a title before you create a topic?

Yes, I thought of this one. I don't see the title saying 'General Futurama Season 7 Discussion'.

It's impossible but they really should stop writting episodes concerned with him. I never liked Lethal Inspection and Neutopia. I'm looking forward to see more Leela-centric (but not another YLL or IAGDL ._.') and Zoidberg-centric episodes unlike Hermes-centric.

I'd like some more Amy episodes that don't revolve around her romantic relationships. More plucky girl genius episodes please.
We had That Darn Katz! and you see the result!

That ep was good despite of its cartoonish feel. We need more Fry-Bender-Leela and shipping episodes.

Hey zlawke, welcome to PEEL! I wanna see Leela go on more dates with losers. And Fry get caught up from a hook up like with Morgan Proctor. * futurefreak ducks from shippers I would really though like to see the Leela Fry shippiness that has been lacking as of late, like the same feeling that was brought on by Parasites Lost and The Farnsworth Parabox (even if it was a parallel version).

I would like to see a SLOW progression of Fry into Lars. IE: Starting to mature a little. Giving him chances to be immature Fry and him taking the high road. Not talking about a single episode, just a gradual slide into maturity that he really could use.
Now I'm sure I have branded myself the leper of Peel.
No, I like this. Randi, I don't have anything against Leela's loser-dating escapades. But I would like Season 7 to keep Leela and Fry in an actual relationship at least for a little while so we can see other sides of their characters that we haven't been able to see yet. Of course, doing this while addressing the fact that Leela has a thing for total losers could potentially be very interesting and/or amusing. I wouldn't really mind an Amy episode but it would have to be good. Katz was okay, not great. I like Amy better when she is paired with some other character. I have always found the Amy/Leela relationship interesting and underdeveloped so an episode centering on the two of them could be nice.

This. I want to see them move on to the next stage of their relationship. There will still be plenty of amusing escapades to have during that stage; the fact that they're in a committed relationship allows for new plot lines with the two that wouldn't have been possible before. I have always found the Amy/Leela relationship interesting and underdeveloped so an episode centering on the two of them could be nice.
Yes! An Amy/Leela episode would be awesome. I think they have a funny/amusing relationship See: "I just want the end locker, but no, Amy won't let me have it. ..Yes, she is a rat!" And "Come on in Leela! Take that ugly coat off!"

Yeah, I agree with AM. I think Season 6 went with a lot of really zany plots, which was fun and successful in some episodes (TLPJF) but made most of them feel rushed (Mobius Dick, Neutopia, Benderama, Overclockwise, any other episodes that has had pacing issues). Whereas some episodes, like Lethal Inspection and Fry Am the Egg Man, had plots that were a little less extreme and focused more on the characters and their relationships than on crazy situations.
Like, okay, I really didn't like Neutopia, and one of the reasons is that I thought all of the characters were just shoved in there to support the plot. It didn't feel like Futurama because none of the main Futurama characters I know and love were acting like themselves. It felt almost like watching fanfiction. Like, here is this story being acted out by people who look a lot like these characters, but they're all lumped together. And it was because there wasn't enough time in the episode for any focus at all on the characters. It was all one big plot-driven fiasco.
Futurama works best when the episodes are character-driven, not plot-driven. TLPJF and Prisoner of Benda were two of the most loved Season 6 episodes, and both of them clearly portray some of the relationships between the characters. The characters are obviously in-character and the episode is obviously Futurama. And yes, there's insanity thrown in. There's a crazy plot. But the plot isn't at the expense of the characters.
So what I'm saying is yes, character interaction. Always and forever. And that often works best in episodes with milder plots like Lethal Inspection. It's possible to pull off in something crazy like Prisoner of Benda, but that's rare, and I'd rather see a more satisfying NNY-based, moderately eventful episode that really explores the characters than something like Mobius Dick again, which was a good episode but threw characterization under the bus for the sake of plot development.

Did I not say this when it first aired about a certain fanfic writer around here possibly being an actual writer for the show?!?! hahah. I completely agree spira. There was no development at all.

My wishes for season 7: - More trio centred episodes (and not all Planet Express Employes being on board, acting like a anonymous horde. Rather fewer characters, and let their personalities play out). - 20th century references (the writers claimed Fry being the most difficult chacter now as he's gotten used to the Future, but making him use 20th century knowledge to solve a certain problem still works). - A more "generalised" approach towards plots, and not a too specific, obvious one. (E.g. "Fry am the Eggman": when the audience realised somewhere during the running time this plot is about to take on Scooby Doo: GOOD. When putting up Solar Sails is like the command "Now act as 18th century sailors for no obvious reasons" BAD. Yep...I REALLY do not like MB )

I'm shocked IH, Mobius Dick is bordering on being my favourite episode ever, and you seem to really like the Space Pirates from Godfellas, so Mobius Dick seems like the perfect episode for you.

Nope. In the cartoon thread, I said I liked Godfellas, I didn't say I liked it because of the Pirates. They were acceptable, but not really something that made me go "WOW!!! Great design" About Moebius Dick: I could go on for pages what I consider just wrong about that episode, but that would be too OT. Okay, to give on exmample: With that thing being spoilered out, no one should feel bothered about that (don't open the spoiler if you do not wish to read only complaints about MB...you were warned, okay? ) : Let's look at what I generously want to call the Episode's "Final": -Leela's phrase "Obsession to complete my delivery", with that echo, those flashes dancing back to the whale, looked just pathetic. And not in a funny, entertaining way. -The "Too bad, because he's still alive" just looked mad. It was like :"Haha, when I look at him, I can understand that you'd prefer to remember him that way. Haha...I got a VERY bad surprise for you, and I think this is very amusing for me.." - Also, they wrote Leelas most antisocial action in the whole series. She cared about the delivery, exlaining what happened, to make a big show, and stood out there alone. She didn't care at all about getting the crew back. Let them rot (or not) in that whale. Only when Inez -at the end of that scene- EXPLICITELY asked her what else she got, she generously -without much motivation- ordered the whale to spit them out. (Rather "I want that stage alone, but I only have one trick left, and for that, I have to save my crew"). The others were in that whale the whole time, and she wasn#t bothered by that, had all the time in the world, and didn't even bother or think about saving them for a fraction of a second. In that scene, I always want to shout at the writers: Damned!! These characters and their personalities are your TOOLS. Use them with a certain care, but not like THAT... (sure it was easier to get the dialog done with Leela standing there alone, but...meeh...the whole thing didn't work at all) Okay..to cut a long story short: Yep, I really, really, really, really, really, really, really dislike MB VERY much

I have to admit, and Amy/Leela episode would be interesting. I don't think the audience is emotionally invested in their friendship, so it couldn't be a "tug on the heartstrings" one. But they have a very interesting friendship, so an episode about that would be a lot of fun. They are both good friends and they obviously care about eachother (notice how Amy always seems to be maid of honour at Leela's weddings, and Leela is always the one to try to cheer up Amy when she feels sad), but they clearly have a low key rivalry and the both enjoy getting on eachother's nerves too.
So yeah. Also, Amy is the only PE crewmember who hasn't had an episode named after her yet. I can see why some people don't think she's a good character because let's face it, she's not a character you think of when it comes to jokes, but then again, neither is Leela. Amy kind of serves as a link between the crazier, goofier, incompetenter characters like Zoidberg, Fry and Bender, and between the "straight man/foils" like Hermes and Leela. She's borderline.
