Do you feel bad about watching Futurama illegally?

I guess everyone who isn't in America is watching the new shows illegally? Does anyone feel bad about this?
I always buy the DVD sets when they are eventually released, so does that make it OK?

I'm not bothered, as long as I get the DVDs at some point. Why should we have to wait longer than the US? It's unfair.

I guess you could say getting the DVDs makes it okay, but no one will ever know if you keep quiet.

I would never watch the New Episodes illegally.
Every time a new Episode is aired, I catch a flight to the US to watch it there legally....

This is not a productive area of discussion.

By which I mean that the mods may have a problem with this thread, since PEEL has a pretty strict no-discussing-illegally-downloading-episodes rule.  

That said: Though I live in the States and thus don't experience this problem, in theory I have no problem with people watching the shows, um, not on Comedy Central--as long as they intend to buy the DVDs when they do come out. Lord knows I wouldn't be able to wait if the episodes weren't airing in my country.

Exactly! You don't know how long the wait for Season 6 to reach the UK took for me.

I don't feel any guilt because I'll pre-order the DVD (or blu-ray now) as soon as I possibly can... and until they're released in this country I'll have to make do with the interwebs.
Plus it's not like my viewing figures would actually make any difference - I'm not a member of BARB so what I watch counts for nothing.

Plus, I give Futurama my money and support in other ways.

People complain about Futurama's treatment on Sky One but it's a damn lot better than the treatment it used to get on Channel 4.

I remember when they were premiering new episodes of season 3 at something like 1 in the morning. It might've been even later (they were doing it as a block with new Family Guy and King of the Hill episodes if I remember correctly). And prior to that, I must've tuned in at 6pm on Wednesday or whatever timeslot it was, literally in excess of 5 times only to be greeted by a "now in a change to our scheduled show" message and a repeat of Scrapheap Challenge. As far as I know, no terrestrial (or freeview) channel shows Futurama any more.

Channel 4 suck at handling animation. They had The Simpsons then dropped it because they weren't happy with its performance, then the BBC picked it up and it became a huge staple of their programming. Meanwhile, channel 4 held the rights to showing Family Guy and did a terrible job of it.
Then Channel 4 bought the rights back to showing The Simpsons once Friends finished, but by this point The Simpsons had gone crap. The BBC, in turn, bought the rights to showing Family Guy and due to giving it a good, regular bit of airtime, it's now one of their biggest shows.

So yeah. In short, I'd love for BBC Three to handle Futurama in the UK. If past experience counts for anything, they'd treat it ever so well.

I re-watch when they finally arrive on commercial television and will also eventually buy the DVDs, so it's no big thing. I think a large percentage of downloaders actually do this, because they/we tend to only download things they/we really like and wish to enjoy again.
The main reason it happens is on account of the flawed channels of international distribution. If these production companies wish to curtail downloading then they need to improve the availability of their product. It's gotten better in the last decade, but it's still not perfect, especially when fandoms are so international in nature and people want to watch things at the same time as their friends overseas so that they might share their opinions.

I try and do the right thing and watch them on commercial television...but it doesn't help when you have 5 minute breaks of (shock horror) commercials in the program and the fact that Australian TV likes to jerk us around with breaking up the season by having one or two weeks off and re-playing old episodes instead and then suddenly springing the new ones on you...You have to been damn vigilant (or obsessed) to keep up with the new season though...

I haven't bought the current DVD/Blu-ray season 6(or is it 7?) release yet as I am optimistically awaiting a combined season 7&8 in one set later in the year

I'm fortunate enough to live where the episodes air first, then they rerun them a few times for the next week, so I have opportunity to catch an ep if I miss it. If nothing else, the DVDs will always be there for me. I've not seen Mobius Dick, and that's okay.

Now, if I lived elsewhere and wanted to participate in discussion about current episodes, I'd be SOL unless I started downloading. But getting pirated show files seems like a good way to pick up malware and viruses too...

I don't believe I have access to Comedy Central in my dorm, possibly, though I haven't tried really. And most of the time I'm doing something when the show is on, so I catch up on Fridays online. Illegal, yes. Better solution? Probably. Gonna stop doing it? Nope.

personaly since I live in Québec, I wait until 10h30 then I start raiding on the internet to find the episodes and watch them generally at 11 pm... but for buying them I want to wait until they are dubbed in French but this may take a long time
