Here's where we discuss what MIGHT happen. Not what we know WILL happen.

Or something like that.

Like Dorsal Axe brought up earlier, the question that is nagging at me the most is what 6ACV25 is going to be like.  It has to give some sense of closure, but also leave itself open ended for a potential new season.  I guess it would be traditional to have some sort of Fry and Leela romantic interplay be the key theme, but seeing as how they have been "together" throughout this season, that might not pan out.  Although I wouldn't put it past Fry for a second so say or do something idiotic enough to put their relationship back at square one and have to reconcile with Leela yet again.

I would like some big adventure thingie with a big emotional core. Fry having to save the rest of the crew from a giant brain maybe? Oh, wait.

do we know the plot to 'Law and Oracle'?  I'm wondering if that might be the 25th episode, and have something to do with Leela being the 'Other'.

I really hope they delve into that in this second half-season.  It would be a shame to never find out what Nibbler meant about Leela.  As far as I'm concerned, that is the biggest tease of the whole series.

Damn, the plot for Law and Oracle is about Fry becoming a cop. I really was hoping for a plot about the other, too.

So apparently the 25th episode is "Overclockwise."  I read a theory here on PEEL (I can't remember who wrote it though) speculating that the episode would be about Bender's processor being overclocked and time passing very quickly in his perception relative to everyone else.  It sounds plausible to me.  The name definitely says "time travel" or "fast time" to me.  Perhaps the crew will use the forwards-only time machine again?  What do you all think?

That does seem like a cool theory...

I really hope they do use the time machine again, and end with destroying it. I don't like that it's currently always possible to just go "back" in time when everything goes sour.

wasn't that "cyber_turnip"?

However, Ken Keeler will probably write "Overclockwise". Ken Keeler For Tha Win!

Indeed, May the almighty "Mongo" forgive me. ("cyber_turnip" deserves no credit. Shows just how lazy I am, can't even go back to the thread and check it out. And yet was exactly that the point of my post. How wonderfully lazy (says "Hedonism-bot."))
 :)

Well... What were we discussing..?

Uh... Oh. Yes, Mongo's theory about 6ACV25(?), "Overclockwise".
It just sounds "Bender"-related-ish. And I'm not sure that's exactly what I want as the finale.

Well... What were we discussing..?
Endings, I suppose.  Considering that the production staff is "still in limbo" at this point, it could be that "Overclockwise" is the last canon Futurama episode of the series.  We have deduced that it will possibly involve time travel, perhaps also Bender or another computer being overclocked.

Aki also brought up an interesting point about not being able to go back to the way things were after time traveling - no reset button.  It would certainly be a huge cliffhanger to say, leave some of the PE crew stranded in another time, unable to return.

A cliffhanger would be cool. I would like to see additional Rebirth-style episodes in the future. It would also leave some space for the Reincarnation episode, perhaps.

I'm really curious about Law and Oracle... a main character switching job can either go extremely well or it can fail completely.

Josh Weinstein could indeed make a good episode or...
It could be a more "silly" take on the law enforcement.
But there's several episodes in broadcast season 8 that could be really good.
"Möbius Dick" sounds really "cool". "A four-dimensional space whale..."

I'm also interested in that episode. I think it'll be fine. Fry's previous career changes have generally been pretty good (War is the H-Word, The Cryonic Woman, Futurestock).

Although, I can only imagine that it will end with Bender being caught committing a crime, and Fry having to choose between his job or his friend. Hopefully they'll pull a good twist out of the bag.

I can imagine it now...

Fry and URL going all 24th century on Bender's ass.

Fry:  "Sorry, Bender.  I know you're my best friend and all but, you know the law - you gotta do what cha' gotta do."

I looking forward to Silence of the Clamps, Benderama, Ghost in the Machine, and Law and Oracle!  I hope Bender joins along with Fry in Law and Oracle.  Can you imagine them both being cops?  I hope it's like that American Dad episode Cops and Roger.  Love to see Futurama spoof cop shows!

My only worry about this episode is maybe Fry will become one because Leela will get framed or kidnapped or something like that.  It seems like TV shows love using those 'wrongfully accused' and 'woman gets kidnapped' cliches.    And in Ghost in the Machine, I hope Bender comes back to life.  Of course he will!

If any character should be a cop, it should be Bender!  He can be either like Jackie Chan in those Police Story movies or Dirty Harry!

Since we don't know much about these episodes yet, maybe it'll be Fry, Bender, and Zoidberg joining the force!  That would be fun!  If Fry were a cop, he'd be like Barney Fife.  Which is probably what he'll be in this.

It will probably be just Fry, but perhaps others will join too.  Maybe being a cop will create some more sparks between Fry and Leela too.  I can see her being impressed at him being able to hold down a job other than his delivery one, or commenting on how sexy he looks in a uniform.   :flirt:

I have a prediction.  Anyone remember when we all thought Futurama was over after ITWGY?  Then some months later it was announced that it's coming back for 26 more episodes?  I predict that after the episode Ressurection, that it will be announced that Futurama will be renewed for three more seasons or so!  Just wait, it'll happen.

After all, Futurama got nominated for a WGA award!  So there's really no way it will end.

No, I don't think it will end. Promising three seasons so soon seems illogical though.

I have never heard of a purchase of three seasons at once.  It was a big story two years ago when Fox bought two seasons of The Simpsons at once.  Often a new show may get its second season purchased even before the pilot airs, if the network is so optimistic.  But that wasn't really the case here.

Comedy Central seems reluctant to release any info before the decision is "made". But cable networks does usually purchase new season whenever they "feel" like it.

About Futurama's total run…

I think that the show will go on for quite a while. Probably not 22 seasons, but if so was the case. I'd say that it would be better than Mr. Groening's other show.

Primarily because the Simpsons has in my opinion tackled almost everything that's possible in a show in this time and this place. Futurama will never have unvisited places and fun problems and deliveries.

May Futurama live long and prosper!

it won't survive 22+ seasons, but I find it hard to believe that next year's season will be the last.  Futurama helped give Comedy Central its best summer ever this year.  I don't remember the number exactly, but I read somewhere that the rating for the timeslot that Futurama occupied were some rediculous 200% or 300% higher that the rating for whatever show held the slot last year.  The only real issue I can think of is cost.  Futurama costs a lot more to produce than most animated stuff.  There's always the chance that CC will decide it doesn't want to tie that much money up in one show when they can still glean a profit off of something cheaper.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I feel like, if Futurama had never been canceled in 2003, and had continued on in a normal way, it probably would have run its natural course by now. I don't think I'd like to see more than ten seasons, if that; every show I've been a fan of tends to become god-awful at around the 200-episode mark (if not sooner). Honestly, I think I'd be okay if the current season was the last ever produced--though I do think the writers probably have many more stories to tell, and I'd be interested in seeing them assuming the next thirteen episodes in this batch are of comparable quality to the first thirteen.

I don't recall anyone thinking Futurama was over after ITWGY, just that we didn't know whether or not it would come back in episode format.

Also, I agree with the not wanting Futurama to go for 22 seasons thing and I kind of agree with Gorky about not being too sad if Season 6 ended up being the last season, because at least we would have ended up getting a new season of regular episodes rather than movies.

I wouldn't really bother at all if futurama ever get over 20 seasons anyway the season 20 would be suppose to be like in 2024 so yeah lol... but do you think that the simpsons will cross the season 30 ?? would be kinda crazy :P anyway to me futurama should never end :)
