Six Million Dollar Mon

1.187M

So no change from last week.  That is a disappointment.  I suppose that we can expect viewerships around 1.2M from now on?

Not Necessarily Mongo. Many people probably missed it. But I agree, 1.2 ?? What is going on? I thought the views would be back to normal since the DirecTV dispute is over.  . I hope we get more viewers by the end of the Summer. I mean, it IS the Summer and people are doing stuff around the July-August era. I actually think we should get an increase of viewers in the middle of August. But we'll just have to wait and see!

MuchAdo made a good point, although he articulated it in a profoundly douchey way. I got 40 facebook friends that have 'liked' futurama, but as far as I can tell, only three of them are real fans of the show. And I don't even mean obsessive nerd levels of fandom like us, I mean just watching it when it's on TV and getting the DVD's pre-owned.

could it possibly have something to do with the change to Wednesday?  Maybe people aren't home/staying up to watch it?  I don't know why that would be, but I can't come up with any better reason why the show would be doing so much worse this season.

edit:  I just noticed that, even though Futurama isn't doing so well with total viewers, it didn't do much worse than The Daily Show, which is the only other CC show that is on the list.  That's encouraging.  Futurama doesn't have to be the best-rated show on TV, it just needs to be competitive with the other shows that are airing on the same channel.

The Olympic broadcasts need to be factored in when thinking about ratings this week.  I'm sure they are poaching some viewers from most shows.

Plus, TBJE and TSMDM might have made a few people decide not to watch this week's episode.

This sucks. And it was such a good episode. :(

Is Comedy Central as a whole just not doing particularly well the last few weeks or something? I could see Direct TV and some other factors being a problem, maybe with some lasting effect if some people temporarily got out of the "habit" of watching the network. I'm also not sure if they adequately advertised the shift in airing nights for the show. But still...this blows.

I personally doubt much effect from perceived quality of episodes or anything. I really don't hear enough whining about current episodes (outside of the internet) for that to be the case, I don't think. Especially based off just a couple episodes or whatever. That said, I hope these are doing well in the later repeats over the week or something...

Damn!! I can't take this low viewership any longer! All I can predict is that people are just out enjoying the Summer instead of sitting in! Or maybe some people haven't heard about the newer episodes still coming on Wednesdays. I'm not liking the viewers though, an 0.5 rating??? :( We were getting 0.7 last year! I mean, wednesday IS a work day for alot of people! And they probably DVRed it or got it off iTunes. I got a bad feeling about this though.

Good Colbert sucks, Jon is waaay better.
No.  They are very different types of entertainers yes, but they are so tight that by saying 'Colbert sucks' you insult Jon Stewart as well.

Eh, your 'Futurama points' don't really bring anything to the table that hasn't already been said in so many words a dozen times over in this thread trying to rationalize why Futurama's viewership is down.  Cutting down a national treasure and one of the top 100 sexiest women in the world?  That I will not let stand.

As awful as the US government?  Aww, you give me too much credit, but I'm flattered regardless.

Look it up.  He is one of the top 100 sexiest women the world, according to Maxim.  #69, as a matter of fact.  And his genius is so far beyond your pitiful levels of scrutiny that it is unnecessary for me to even defend him any further.

Calm?  Calm!  Who could be calm when nincompoops are criticizing Colbert in the streets and Futurama's views are dropping like a stone!  The end is nigh!

EDIT: By the way, most of my irritation in dealing with you stems from the fact that you are a compulsive ninja editor, which makes any kind of coherent conversation a pain in the ass.

Back on topic...

DirecTV, Wednesday, Olympics, corporate shenanigans, bean counters, conspiracy, new Futurama sucks, media diversity overload, alien intervention, etc...

Did I miss any?

Oh yeah, maybe the world has moved on, and people just aren't as interested in Futurama anymore except for us diehards.

EDIT: GOOD, then simply ignore my posts dude.

I had honestly never heard of this Venture Bros business before. Who knows the reason. One of the creators still said afterward that he's a "good guy" so maybe it wasn't personal.

The Colbert Report is the superior show anyway.

The Colbert Report has 23 straight minutes a night of Stephen, whereas Venture Bros only utilized him as a secondary character.

Advantage: Colbert Report. His greatness can't be contained like that.

Many people probably just decided to DVR it or download it on iTunes. It's been getting alot of buys off there. Also the wednesday-night change effected it too....... I also think that since it was barely advertised this year, is why it didn't get as many viewers.

Eh, honestly I wouldn't be too sad if it got cancelled, they're a shadow of their former at this point and I'd like to see it end before it becomes irrelevant like The Simpsons. I don't want them to continue on this path of destruction.

I don't think I'd watch another 8th season at this quality especially since there are so many better cartoons coming out. It's still my favourite show and I'd like to have fond memories of it, but something a season similar to season 12 of The Simpsons would destroy that adoration, ruining a near perfect run.

I think season 7 will be the end. If season 8 was on the way, then I'm sure we'd know about it by now.

I wouldn't mind more, but I'm satisfied with 140 episodes. That's almost twice as much as the original run.

The staff only find out in Spring 2013.

We only found out about a 7th season being renewed just before 6B started to air.
