I prefer this episode only to Godfellas (which I really don't understand why is so loved)

Heretic! Get him!

As for a list, well. I couldn't be bothered to make a list right now. Perhaps I'll think about it and make one later...

Well maybe you can explain to me why Godfellas is so loved? I would really like to know, because tbh I cannot think of a single redeeming feature about that episode. I really don't understand it's popularity

The appeal of "Godfellas", at least for me, is that it handles religion deftly and satirically, and it shows some real character growth on Bender's part. Plus, it's just plain funny. 'Course, opinions tend to vary.

I've never thought that much of Godfellas. It's certainly not bad, I just don't quite get the hype either.

I think a lot of people like it for being vaguely philosophical. Personally, I love how it handles Fry missing Bender but I don't find it very funny personally so yeah. Futurama appeals to all sorts of people with different tastes.

Fair enough. I can see where you're coming from.

For me, I just saw it as Bender floating through space for 22 minutes. Extremely boring and unfunny for me I'm afraid. I understand that it covered religion very well, but as an episode, I just wasn't entertained. Varied opinions amongst us all as you say

I get that watching Bender drift through space for 22 minutes might be boring for some people, but I happen to like the fact that this episode kind of isolates Bender; he's left to do his own thing, independent of the other regulars. I was watching "Bender's Big Score" earlier today, and it occurred to me that it's not often we get to see one of the main characters on a solo adventure (which is part of the reason the flashbacks in BBS, with Fry/Lars figuring his life out, are kind of compelling). Sometimes watching a single character have their own adventure can be interesting, and in the case of "Godfellas", it teaches us a lot about Bender.

Godfellas was a well done story but failed in the laughs department, IMO. It's hard to hate on it when there are other unfunny episodes with not-as-good plot and characterization...but it's definitely not a favorite of mine.

Anywho, after so much fear and worrying near the beginning of the season...I must say that season 6 is shaping up to be quite nice. My rankings so far:

Lethal Inspection
Prop Infinity
Rebirth
DVC
IGDL
AOTKA
PACA

I ranked Duh Vinci Code pretty low because the second had too many jokes that fell flat for me. But the story overall was good and I liked the exploration of the Fry/Farnsworth relationship.

And wasn't Futurama at Comic Con today? Why don't we know anything about that?

I've been reloading several different site pages obsessively trying to find any information on the Comic-Con panel, and this is all I've found so far (it'll have to do until somebody uploads video of it to YouTube or writes something more in-depth about the panel): http://io9.com/5595528/between-the-comic+con-news-and-last-weeks-episode-the-future-of-futurama-is-looking-good.

Godfellas was the total package IMO. The plot was well done, the animation was beautiful, it was funny but also intelligent and thought provoking. The concept of God here may very well be my favorite interpretation. It takes a satirical stab at religion in nearly all it's devices with hilarious results. ("Is there anything useful we can do? ...No.") In a way, this is Futurama's El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer, which was another brilliant, introspective solo character journey. Loved the various 2001 references as well, but some people think that movie is just "things floating in space" too...

To each his own.

Regarding series 6, I've noticed that Zoidberg is the only remaining main character (out of the main 7) to not have an episode centred around him.

This is how I see it:
Rebirth - Fry/Leela
In-A-Gagga-Da-Leela - Leela (and also Zapp obviously)
Attack Of The Killer App - Fry/Leela
Proposition Infinity - Bender/Amy
The Duh-Vinci Code - Fry/Professor
Lethal Inspection - Bender/Hermes

So, perhaps we are due for a Zoidberg ep soon?

I also noticed that Dr Wernstrom is yet to appear in the new series

Don't forget The Late Philip J Fry is bound to be Fry/Professor as well.
I really hope there's some deliveries soon in this series.

The prof is my favourite character, so TLPJF should be quite decent hopefully.

Yeah you're right, not many deliveries so far lol.

Regarding a Zoidberg ep, does anyone know which episode will be the one that explains how Zoidberg met the prof?

I don't understand all these complaints about them not making deliveries. I counted it up recently and they only made about 4 deliveries per season in the original run. They're on par with that at the moment.

Looks like "The Late Philip J. Fry" will have some shippy undertones, which is certainly not a bad thing (and of course their relationship will get some closure in the so-called "de facto series finale"; it happened in both Devil's Hands and Wild Green Yonder). But am I the only one who's not super-psyched for the 26th episode? It sounds kind of gimmicky.

They seem to have been a combination of a delivery company and general spaceship crew for the Professor for Seasons 1-4. I mean, the Professor gets up to more and more mad science as the series progresses, often involving his trusty and expendable crew.

Should we move any discussion of Comic-Con stuff over to the Speculation thread? It seems to me that that's where we traditionally talked about stuff that others might find spoilery.

After the first six episodes I've decided to create a so-far opinion on the season.

Awesome. Much better than most seasons of Simpsons, much better than the series, much better than most of the other stuff on TV. Seriously, this is along with the original 72, definitely counted along and not some post-zombie. Ofcourse the rest of the episodes may suck big time, that's left for time to decide.

1. Lethal Inspection (only seen once, so might very well change)
2. The Duh-Vinci Code
3. Proposition Infinity
4. Rebirth
5. Attack of the Killer App
6. In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela

As one might notice the latest three episodes are also the three latest ones, and I must add I have really high hopes for both The Late Philip J. Fry and The Mutants Are Revolting.

I know, but how easy is that when Groening called it his favorite episode and DXC called it "the Emmy shot"?

Everyone is just hating on AOTKA because everyone else is doing it. Its fun to hate things that other people hate!!11

What else should we hate on? Twilight? How innovative! Hate on Yoko Ono? I'll be the first!

[/sarcasm]

In retrospect, the Barenaked Ladies made me realize that while most musicians write and sing about finding true love, John Lennon was lucky enough to have found it-and everyone hated him for it. John <3 Yoko forever. Very interesting indeed.

I thought "Attack of the Killer App" was a good episode.  Not great (I hated the "susan boil" character), but it was funny, sacrastic & satirical.  It was still better than 95% of the crap that's on TV...

I too liked AotKA. It's a weak episode overall, but not as weak as A Leela of Her Own or The Cryonic Woman. And even a weak Futurama episode is really good television.

I liked AoTKA alot too, minus anything related to the whole Susan Boil thing which was stupid beyond reason. The entire thing with Mr. Chunks and the pool was actually one of the highlights of the season so far for me.

Everyone is just hating on AOTKA because everyone else is doing it.

Or perhaps people hate it because it sucked? Firstly, it was far too 2010 to be Futurama. I get that the underlying message is that nothing changes, but they could've made the point better. It was too much of a poke at things that are current now, but will fade over time and become less relevant. Also, the iPhone and Twitter are things which really irritate me personally.

Secondly, it was a massive commercial for Apple, the iPhone, Twitter, and those really irritating "viral videos" which are already dated. It felt like less of a TV show and more some guy's "humourous" (note the quote marks) blog with a commercial sponsor. The jokes weren't funny, and were barely jokes.

Thirdly, the boil's voice was annoying, the boil joke itself was annoying, and it messed with continuity. Where has the boil been 'till now? Where have the eyePhones gone, for that matter?

Mr. Chunks and the pool were more of a Family Guy joke than anything else so far, and even Mom's evil plot to turn everybody into mindless consumer zombies wasn't funny enough to save the episode.

It sucked. 3/10. It's not because other people hate it that people hate it, it's because it wasn't really Futurama as we have come to know it. It wasn't particularly smart, funny, or incisive in the same way as Proposition Infinity, for example, and it's definitely down there with Lobstertainment and Cryonic Woman as one of the worst offerings that the staff have come up with so far.

Everyone keeps comparing the whole Mr. Chunks thing to Family Guy even though (as I already mentioned in another thread) it's much more of a South Park-esque plot line than a Family Guy one.

I agree with Jezzem on this. I loved Mr. Chunks and the pool, and there's not really much Family Guy over it. Futurama has been thilty before, and most of the times it's hit or miss. Mr. Chunks was hit for me.

aotka was simply a horrible episode. i'm not jumping some bandwagon (btw, yoko ono sucks), i'm simply stating my opinion. as totalnerduk has stated, it simply didn't feel like a futurama episode. to me, when i look back on futurama, i will pretend that this episode never happened.

btw, i rank it below the cryonic woman and thats lobstertainment, the latter which i really liked.
