Billy West is finally talking, but he is only thanking the fans, and his comment that he will be at Comic-Con signing autographs seems to me to ponder the question:  Is he implying what I think he is implying?!

He didn't outright mention that he will be on the futurama panel but he seemed to just answer the question literally rather than elaborate on Comic Con
Wonder what that means....are they going to have the panel without the actors if they can't reach an agreement?

The extreme usage of dots implies he won't be at the panel. I'll check around to see if the other VA's are still doing it or not.

i found this on phil lamarrs facebook

My friend, sadly auditioned for Futurama. I was pretty angry that he tried. But none the less, he told me when he was contacted, the man he spoke to told him chances are no one will be hired. Now what this means I don't know. But I hope it means Fox is realizing its mistake and will realize fans will literally turn them into Torgo's Executive Powder if they cast different actors. But through it all, stay strong and keep us updated on the goings on so we can make sure and fight this to the fullest extent the fans can

i'm sorry if somebody already talked about this (the interent hasn't been avalible for a while and i don't have alot of time to read everything on here right now) but I will later :)

So either the show is outright canceled, or.......FOX realized they were idiots and Futurama RETURNS as it should.

It's definitely returning. If it was canceled then they wouldn't still have a panel. This definitely supports the negotiating tactic or elaborate joke theories.

UPDATE:

Now I know a little more, according to the Facebook group Save the voices of Futurama, they have the key email addresses of the responsible people at Fox for the Voices Recast.. So if you wanna say something to them..

Please, be POLITE
There you go (in spoiler text, just in case):

-----
ORIGINAL POST:

I wonder why JavieR removed his story about the audition thing not being a prank from TFP.

The story "Futurama Voice Cast vs. 20th Century Fox TV. Who do you trust?" still appears in his list of "important Futurama news" in the top right of his site.

Does he know something we don't?!

Mmm.. that's odd.. I only knew about the statements of a "friend of Jacob W Robinson" at Phil LaMarr's Facebook (already added to this thread)

I didn't remove anything. Let me check!
..checking TFP news system..
The entry is not in the list of news.. weird!
..checking TFP database..
The article is indeed in the database, and is active, even more weird! I dunno why is not in the main page.. I'll have to check the php files, but I've not changed those neither.
..after a while..
Bingo, it was crashed table.. I dunno why because there's no massive traffic on TFP right now..

That's a lot of odd stuff in one post there, JavieR. TFP randomly killing itself is pretty odd, but the contacts they give are odder. Their jobs are "Corporate Communications and Publicity" and "Media Relations" respectively. It's odder still that this Hollywood Reporter article gives the then-current head of the former Marketing and Communications Department (which was ironically restructured and split into two departments after the Futurama Folly) and the new heads of the Market & Research and Publicity & Talent Relations Departments. As JavieR said for the e-mails, please be polite and use discretion with these names. I feel like the former head of the joint department and the head of the new P&TR department would be the two people to email. Oh, and, ironically, the guy who was in charge of the joint department has now been invested in "keeping up brand image" when he was the one who likely oversaw this whole mess-up that's ruined 20th Century Fox Television's image.

No changes yet, Andy.  Fox is threatening to recast all the voices; they've supposedly sent out a casting call.  A craigslist ad for the casting call was posted, but it may be fake (it indicates no one with representation (agent) may apply, which makes no sense since any voiceover artist of consequence has an agent).  Some of us are figuring ways responses to this (email campaign, boycott, kidnapping Fox Executives families, etc), while others of us believe it's a salary negotiation tactic on Fox's behalf; we're all in outraged wait-and-see mode right now...

Hi Gang,
Moe LaMarche here. Just to clarify, we have NOT been kicked out of Comic-Con completely. In fact, gotta give 'em credit, Fox was good enough to keep our registrations and hotel arrangements "alive", (although at our own expense), perhaps because somebody, somewhere at Fox Productions is preparing some kind of reasonable offer back to us, in time to save the panel. Who knows? Maybe they're just being decent. Anyway, I always express gratitude when I can, and this does save my kid's once a year trip (cz ComicCon's sold out), so in spite of any contention, thank you, Fox. And thank you to our friends, Matt & Dave, thank you Marcy and Antonia, and thank you, Lee.

The "Good news, Everyone" is that we (the cast) WILL still be signing autographs in the Sail Pavilion from 3pm til 7pm. Come by, say hi, even if you don't buy an autograph (yeah, sorry... we "greedy actors" have to make a living somehow). And if you have questions, and we can legally and ethically answer them, we will.

And, further point of clarification, there STILL WILL BE a Futurama panel (as of this writing, anyway). Just not including us. So, go check it out, if you like. I just hope that what is said from up there is accurate and fair, as we will not be there to rebut. However, I do still dare to think that Matt, Dave and the writers are our friends...

The first emphasis shows that he's speculating this, just to make sure fans don't take it in the wrong way. However, in all likelihood, this speculation will prove true; Fox doesn't want to ruin the fabulous return of Futurama panel when there's hundreds of thousands of geeks running around.

Second emphasis confirms Phil's statement that the cast will not be a part of the panel as is currently.

I didn't emphasis it, but the last two sentences are odd. Does that suggest he has reason to believe they aren't? Does it mean other VA's don't think so? Or is he being sarcastic and thinks they aren't the VA's friends any longer? Quite interesting...

I think he is using "our" in its broadest sense there. Meaning the VAs and the fans reading the message. If this is accurate it translates to "I still dare to think that Matt, Dave and the writers aren't going to take this lying down."

Ever the optimist...

Nice one Archonix!!

I took the liberty to create a lighter (4,24 KB) gif one (because of the old crapy browsers, like IE6), this one is 150x150 px:

You can use this code if you wanna add it to your site (with no link, yet..) inside the <body>  </body>:

Granted, I'm only an intern, but since being in LA for this summer at a production house, the one and only constant that I've seen, is the dollar.

Chase that dollar.  Stack that paper.  Getch yo' money, son.

And all the news that's come out, the block of text supposedly from Fox that has no name, title, or division attached to it, all the breaking news coming from Facebook, blogs, and mystery informants, none of it makes sense from a monetary standpoint.

Between the PR disaster that this would be at Comic-Con if any of it were true, ruining any chance of a strong premiere, future DVD sales, and the all important syndication rights, what the writers supposedly want and what Fox supposedly won't pay is nothing.  It pales in comparison.

I made some money on the side PA'ing on Tintin, and  when someone, and not just Spielberg, but the production coordinator, two rungs up the ladder from me, wanted something done, IT GOT DONE.  And fast.  Money wasn't an issue, because people in Hollywood know you have to spend some money to make money back.

Fox gets this.  More than any other company they chase that dollar, and you don't really cut corners out here, not at their level, because it's a sign of weakness to your competitors.  If anything, you brag about what you're spending.

The only way any of this makes sense is if you truly believe that some exec who you will never, ever, meet has it out for you personally.  And they don't.

They only people they care about being happy or sad are the people directly above them and the investors.  Those are the people they make happy.  Not because they're soulless, or because they hate art, or humor, or Bender, but because that's their job.

Studios burn hundreds of millions a year to make billions, and it's their job to keep that cycle going.  They have kids, they have bills, and this is how they feed those kids and pay those bills.

So this Saturday, that hall where the panel is has a pall over it.  It's dismal and gray.  Groening and Cohen come out with someone in a suit you've never seen before.  Groening says something about having some bad news.  Cohen just shakes his head sadly.  The guy in the suit is the Fox exec leans toward the mic, "I'm sorry to say this, but,"

His mic cuts out.  The Futurama theme song plays.  The VA's step onto stage.  The crowd, at the lowest emotional point a fan can be at are all suddenly on an adrenaline and endorphin high so great, even Everest must pause and say, 'damn,' and release a cheer so loud, San Diego rushes out emergency crews to deal with the damage from what they think is an earthquake.

That is how Futurama returns.

Whoa, you worked Tintin?! Impressive.

It would be horrible for Fox to allow the panel to be gray and dismal, would ruin the brand even more than it has been ruined already by this whole thing. There's bound to be some sort of announcement at Comic-Con or this will be an even more horrible move by them; hundreds of thousands of fans just at the Con are just a sample of the vast array of fans across the globe, so word'll spread quickly whether it's good or bad. They just need to make sure it's good news for their company.

Heh, it was all right.  I got to see all the photos of the digital sets and art work for the character designs...before destroying them...

And I got to throw myself off a ladder and onto a crash pad in the mo-cap building.

If I'm wrong about this whole Futurama thing, then Fox is actually out to ruin all of our Christmases and kick all our dogs.  That's the only explanation.

I hope Kickpants is right & this is all some sort of publicity event.  If so, great; it got us riled up.  If not, then I believe this is one of the worst examples of studio ineptitude I've ever seen.  The suit in charge of this decision MUST be found and dragged kicking & screaming into the light; no more hiding inside a huge bureacreacy.  All this kind of thing does is generate bad will & ensure a franchise is killed off before it gets it's feet back underneath it.

Stuff

That's pretty much the gist I got.  It's my theory that whatever the VAs have asked for is somewhat of a highball offer, though probably not as highball an offer as Fox's offer is probably a total lowball.

Also, what some other people have said, given the number of voices each of the actors do, it'd be cheaper for Fox to pay them $75k than pay numerous actors $20k to voice one or two characters.

Billy West about what he's gonna do at the Comic Con:
Quote
Hi guys!!

I am going to be at Comicon on Saturday and Sunday.
Here's where to find me.

Saturday: I will be joining my friends Matt Groening and David X. Cohen
for the "Bender Head" signings.

Then from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
I will be joining Phil La Mar, Johnny D. and Maurice to sign photos on
Autograph Alley.

Sunday at 3:00 PM I'm in on a discussion with the great Mark Evanier
and others about people wanting to get into the voice acting field.
It'll be really cool.

No Katey Sagal..  :hmpf:
I dunno what's gonna happen...

If anyone attending the Futurama Panel at the SDCC could Twitt about it live, it would be great!!
