In reply to Officer 1BDI's post above (on the last page), they might have been grad students working under him. I'm not sure, I was just told the story.

My theory of "four, continuous plots" has been proven wrong for the most part. On the new interview that's on the main site, it has stated flat out that each movie stands on its own like an episode, but there will still be some connections movie to movie. It's disappointing to me- so much for the big, six-hour Futurama epic.

As long as my time representative (a.k.a. "Father Time" ) theory stays standing, I'll be grateful of the movies.

That was a great interview with Rough Draft. We also found out that the second Futurama Movie - The Beast With A  Billion Backs is due for release in Spring 2008!...

I wonder, with the WGA strike ongoing, whether Fox might exercise their option to air the movies in episodic form if they run low on other animated shows later this year / early next.

An interview here with producer Claudia Katz
 http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/news/03/23203.php

But it says at the bottom: "Futurama the Movie: Bender's Big Score comes to DVD on November 23 from Fox Home Entertainment."

Is this a mistake or is it really coming out then? All other sources indicate the 27th as the release date?

I also found this article: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/gossip/view/21311/Futurama-to-return-Matt-Groening/

with some comments from the cast/crew from the LA screening.  :)

It's definitely coming out on the 27th.  Dvd releases are always on Tuesday, don't know why.

No, according to Matt Groening FOX does have an option to air Futurama

IF: Will Fox put the episodes on like FAMILY GUY?
GROENING: It’s going to be on Comedy Central, starting at the beginning of 2008 and I don’t know. Fox has an option, who knows. I hope so, that would be nice.

Also I think Comedy Centrals "exclusive" rights are only for cable/satellite channels. If Futurama manages to get to 100 episodes before 2013 I fully expect to see it syndicated here in the US on local network television stations.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about the whole idea of

but then again, some of the most bizarre plots have turned out to be the best episodes in the past so we'll just have to wait and see.  The plot for The Wild Green Yonder has me really excited though.

This screenshot was taken immediately before the time sphere was projected as a holographic image, noting Fry butt-naked on the exam table. You may have to squint, but it appears that Zoidberg is wearing a crown.

How did Zoidberg obtain that crown? Though it is very tiny in the screen shot, its possible that that same crown will later be owned by Nudar, as he is shown with a crown on on the cover of the DVD.

Here it is again.

Adblock. Works every time.  :)

Maybe he conned the scary naked aliens in to crowning him their king? Or they conned him with the crown in order to further their scam somehow.

Well in the trailer he's leaning against a wall and the sword which is hanging on it falls down and chops his head off. I haven't put this in a spoiler box because it is in the trailer...

Well by the looks of the Futurama returns comic those plot lines fo the next two movies do seem likley. Well the second film does not look so clear in the panel of the comic but the second one does look a fantasy setting (what with Leela being portrayed in the the panel of the comic as a centaur, Bender a Knight, the Professor as a wizard and Fry as some type of ogre), perhaps another "Tale of Interest".

As for the finale film, since there is not outline that I can find I think they may have two stories set up. One that will end the series neatly and satisfactorly and another that can contine it if the DVD sale for the first three films are extremly good.
What up?

Now that "Bender's Big Score" is officially released in the United States (I pity Region 2 right now), we can finally speculate on the next movie, "The Beast with a Billion Backs".

To start off, here's a glimpse of what to expect:

I think "The Beast with a Billion Backs" will end up being my favorite Futurama movie.

Well, I want to know what a creature that has an affair with everyone in the universe has to do with fixing a hole in the universe (if this is even going to be acknowledged by the next movie) and Fry in Papal vestments. I assume Fry and Leela's interaction with the beast will be the basis for the shippy developments, but I'd also like to see if their relationship takes yet another reset. I sure as hell hope not.

Maybe the Beast comes through the hole in the universe. And DXC said (in the TV Squad interview) that the ending of BBS was going to be acknowledged in the next movie, but who knows what he means by that anymore. After all, they didn't really address the Devil's Hands ending in BBS.

Hey, I was going to say that!

I wonder how they'll pick up from the first movie in the introduction of the second. I don't see how they would want to start out with a universally catastrophic opening like the fabric of time and space ripping open dramatically in the sky. The raping alien might just hop out of that hole, you know!

They didn't really need to address it, at least not by their history. Look at "Love and Rocket" and "The Sting". Fry and Leela get very close at the end and both time's Fry saves her life but by the next episode thing will be back to square one. I don't think the movies will do that thought because they all seem to be part of one big story. At least if the end of BBS is any indication.

Anyway, yeah, I don't think the second movie will necessarily pick up right exactly where the first one left off, but they are going to be interconnected in some way. And it certainly should be interesting to see, yet again, where the relationship goes.

I can't say I'm fond of the fact that the Beast With A Billion Backs preview came on a Best Buy exclusive disk (Blech) but having seen it myself I'm pretty sure it picks up where Big Score left off, whether or not its immediately after (probably not).

What's wrong with the fact that the Best buy discs have a preview type thing for TBWaBB? I think that BWaBB will take place maybe a few days after the events of BBS judging by the preview.
